Released in 2002, Die Gute Seite is Sportfreunde Stiller’s sophomore release, which features “Independent,” a song that was featured in Electronic Arts’ FIFA Football 2003 video game. Expanding on the sound Sportfreunde Stiller established with their debut album, So Wie Einst Real Madrid, Die Gute Seite also spawned the singles “Ein Kompliment” and “Tage Wie Dieser,” both of which cracked the Top 100 singles chart in Germany, pushing the band into the limelight for the first time.

Football-obsessed German rock trio Sportfreunde Stiller formed outside of Munich in 1996. Singer/guitarist Peter "Balboa" Brugger, bassist Rüdiger Linhof, and drummer Florian "Rakete" Weber derived the name from their former soccer instructor Hans Stiller, adding "Sportfreunde" (German for "sports friends") when a rival band laid claim to the Stiller name.
