For the fist and the hips.

The Gossip has done more for the hips this time but the band somehow manages to do just as much for the fist. You'll find yourself punching the air while you funk the floor because Beth Ditto's vocals are still an angry cry for emotional justice. But underneath the cranky girl there's disco and it works really well. Heavy Cross was released first and it told us that maybe there was something different coming but something familiar too. There's a guitar lick in there that sounds like a nod to Duran Duran's "Girls on Film". In Men in Love there's a nod to Aretha's "Chain, chain, chain...chain of fools". And then there's the disco. This album might be pushing Beth further onto the dance floor, but if she's gonna go out there, she's going out swinging.

:)

This has got to be the best recent album that I have bought. The best songs are definately Heavy Cross and 8th Wonder. Beth Ditto has an amazing voice along with Hannah and Brace's musical talents it definately deserves 5 stars.

Awesomeness

Great album, even if you are new to the Gossip try it. Beth Ditto is a phenomenon.
