The Queen of Christmas Returns!

There is no denying the truth: No one can write and perform Christmas songs like Mariah! This album is just as amazing as her first 'Merry Christmas' album of 1994. With big vocals, gospel choirs and catchy hooks - this album is both inspiring and fun! Like the original, she has included a perfect mix of traditional Christmas carols, new jazz-style ballads and upbeat party tunes. She's even recorded a new version of her classic 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' (which is incredible). Look out the special duet with her Opera singer mum on 'Oh Come All Ye Faithful/Hallelujah' - as well as the modernised club banger 'Auld Lang Syne (The New Year's Anthem)". If you loved the first Christmas album, you'll definitely love this one! Something for everyone! While she stays true to the classics, she also brings many fresh flavours. Mariah will have a whole new generation growing up to her holiday music (again). Highly recommended :)

A Christmas Treat!

16 years after the release of her first Christmas album, Mariah has produced another Christmas surprise and worthy sequel. Just like her first multi-platinum Christmas hit, "Merry Christmas II You" contains a range of new songs and old favourites that appeal to the young and old. Adult contemporary listeners will love her soulful renditions of "The First Noel/Born is the King", "O Come All Ye Faithful/Hallelujah Chorus" and "One Child". Mariah's jazzed up version of "Here Comes Santa Claus" is pleasingly catchy and "Auld Lang Syne" a fantastic dance number. The lead single "Oh Santa!", may just become another Christmas standard much like "All I Want for Christmas Is You". This is a great Christmas album that I would buy as a Christmas present for my family and friends. Mariah is back!

No one does Christmas like Mariah

In a follow up to her 1994 Merry Christmas album, Merry Christmas II You has a collection of traditional christmas songs with the MC touch. The first album had more of a religious theme to it, this album is a bit more upbeat/ utempo contemporary approach.

I guarantee you will listen to this album from beginning to end. I personally have a few favourites but the whole playlist is fabulous and festive.

One special highlight is the duet Mariah does with her mother Patricia Carey, O Come All Ye Faithful / Hallelujah Chorus feat. Patricia Carey - clash of the divas indeed. Its a special song that Mariah has shared with listeners.

"Oh Santa" Starts off encapsulating the emotions of Christmas with the Christmas bells and getting into a festive mood it is a modern take on Christmas and with Santa Claus is coming to town as its intro it sets the theme for the rest of the album.

"Christmas Time Is In The Air Again" reminds me of listening to a christmas song in a lounge bar during the holiday season.

" The First Noel / Born is the King (Interlude)" is a beautiful song which is sung in typical Mariah style, cooing and all velvety and smooth and leads into Born is the king interlude, which in my opinion should have been a track not interlude!

"One Child" is another outstanding song on the album - reminds me of a Michael Jackson "Heal the world" type track with the children choir in the song.

I love the sixties orchestra style that has been adopted - especially In "All I want for Christmas" (extra festive) you can never get sick of this track and its timeless, it will never age.

Auld Land Syne, the final track on the album is the perfect dance mix for NYE, a very funky twist to the traditional version. I can see all the NYE parties this year playing this version and/or any remixes that may be available (promos for club DJ's). ends the album on the same upbeat tempo it began on.

These are a couple which stand out for me, however you will not regret buying the album. You can tell that a lot of effort and love has gone into the production of the album and the playlist. The Orchestra feel gives it that traditional old time Christmas feel to the album.

This album should be repackaged with Merry Christmas in a box set of some sort. Either way you will have both albums playing on high rotation this Christmas and every Christmas from here now.

The best-selling female performer of the 1990s and one of the most popular artists through the 2010s, Mariah Carey rose to superstardom on the strength of her stunning five-octave voice. An elastic talent who moved easily from glossy ballads to hip-hop-inspired dance-pop, she earned frequent comparison to rivals Whitney Houston and Celine Dion, but did them both one better by co-writing almost all her material. Like all artists with lengthy periods in the mainstream spotlight, Carey experienced creative...
