Customer Reviews

Probably the best debut album I've ever heard. (I know big call but listen for yourself!)

Slightly softer than their previous EP but that in no way takes away the quality. I actually prefer their sofer songs.
It seems even in the short time together they have matured which is a good thing.

Now song by song:

Lordy May: Beautiful instrumentals which help highlight the flawless vocals. Maybe the new 'Fall At Your Feet'? 5/5
Feedling Line: First single and one of the rocky and catchy songs. Wonderful rhythm, great vocals. 5/5
Milk and Sticks: Second single and another rocky, catchy song. Sounds like the brother/sister of 'Feeding Line.' Which Isn't a bad thing! 5/5
Part Time Believer: A sure highlight of the album. Love the vocals, lyrics and rhythm. 5/5
My Only One: Slower song again. Really like the rhythm throughout and the soft instruments again highlight the amazing vocals. 5/5

Percy Warner Park: It's alright. Maybe the closest thing to filler on the album. 3/5
Golden Jubilee: Upbeat, catchy in parts, good vocals. 4/5
House and Farm: Slower again. A fairly good rhythm and nice vocals. 4/5
The Village: A little gem. Really quite catchy, almost like a summer song. Wanted it to be longer! 5/5

Beach: Oh my. Probably my favourite on the album in a close contest with 'Part Time Believer.' It builds and builds. Amazing vocals, particularly towards the end. Just genius. 5/5
Big Man: Great finish to the album! It would be great for a single. Rocky, catchy, stunning vocals. Especially love when they sing together. 5/5

Well what else can I say? Buy it now!

Chaos Deus

Is it just me or does the chorus of Part Time Believer sound like a modern day version/rip off of Horse With No Name? Still a great song though.

First album

I woke up early this morning to experience each song its own delicious morsel in a degustation for the ears. I know this is the first album for these guys but am looking forward to their next already.

Genre: Alternative

Formed in 2009 as a solo vehicle for Sydney-based singer/songwriter Dave Hosking, Boy & Bear specializes in evocative and heartfelt indie folk-rock in the vein of contemporaries like Fleet Foxes, Bombay Bicycle Club, and Mumford & Sons. Rounded out by guitarist Killian Gavin, bass player Dave Symes, and brothers Tim (drums) and Jon Hart (mandolin, keyboards), the Aussie quintet inked a record deal with Island Records on the strength of their independently released first single "Mexican Mavis."
