One of their best

I haven't heard an album of theirs that's this goofy since the first three De La albums (3 Feet High and Rising, De La Soul Is Dead and Buhloone Mindstate). This is a concept album where Pos and Dave (minus Maseo) are fictional rap group First Serve. Pos is Pop Life and Dave is Dean Whitter. It's a real roller coaster ride describing their first get-together rhyming in Dean's basement (Opening Credits), their lack of parental support (Pushin' Aside, Pushin' Along), puttin' in "Work" to reach their dreams, then facing doubts and getting signed, From then on, they lose their friendship which turns into a serious beef battle, all profited by DJ Goon, Jacob's holiday in France with a rather sexy madame which then leads to Dean and Pop Life reuniting.

Production-wise, it's a treat with the two of them rhyming over soul, funk, disco and rock beats. It's one of those albums that you HAVE to listen to from start to finish, but my favourite songs would have to be "Pushin…", "We Made It", "Must B The Music", "Book Of Life", "Clash Symphony" and "Pop Life".

Enjoy! You won't be disappointed.

Also, if I were you, iTunes, I'd seriously consider putting their past catalogue pre-Grind Date on your store. Those three albums I mentioned at the start are hip-hop classics.

This is fantastic!

It's like a De La 2.0 :)

De La evolve and sound fresh.

I didn't think de la soul could refresh their style again after a long and varied 20+ year career, but they say " wear a mask and you can truly be yourself' and with this concept album plug 1 + 2 are back to telling great stories about some of their own experiences.

Did I mention the sound? Really dynamic, even the poppier stuff here is kinda fun, but there are about 6-8 songs where u know immediately that they're inspired.

Definitely worth buying, this is rock solid.
