iTunes Editors' Notes

Pete Yorn’s major-label debut made him an instant star. Yorn played heartland rock with strong undercurrents of Britpop and a grunge hangover. His voice, with its quavering sincerity, sounded like Eddie Vedder’s quieter younger brother. Songs such as “Life On a Chain,” “Strange Condition,” “For Nancy (‘Cos It Already Is)” and “Ez” stand the test of time and sound as fresh a decade later as they did when originally released in 2001. This “Remaster” is the 10th Anniversary Edition and includes a radio broadcast from KCRW on March 27, 2001 (the day the album was released) that features an interview and acoustic versions of many album highlights. The cover of the Smiths’ “Panic” shows off Yorn’s pop side and his sly sense of humor. This edition also includes an additional four bonus cuts, including a demo of “Closet,” a studio recording of “The Barber,” which was a song recorded for the album but never released, the beautiful B-side “Knew Enough to Know Nothing At All,” and a 2011 mix of “Life On a Chain” that is a dramatic reimagining of the tune. Essential.
