Impressive debut album

SO great seeing Brooke going from leaps and bounds. I remember watching her on Idol. I loved her mellow sound, but I didn't think she would make it far in that kind of forum. It's fantastic that she branched out on her own, and went Independent. She was able to unleash her own creativity in her own time and she got quite a following from Triple J listeners especially.

The album has been a long time coming and does not disappoint. All songs seamlessly flow to the next, but they each have their own unique sound about them. Her voice is so dreamy. LIstening to this album seriously makes me feel like I'm drifting underwater. "Nightswim" is an appropriate album title!

Standout tracks for me include "Hurricane", "Ivory", "Golden Lies", "Open Up", but the entire album is simply gorgeous.

Amazing Debut From A True Aussie Tallent

This album is nothing short of 'perfection' I do not write reviewed often unless the album has blown me away. You know the very few albums that you listen to for the first time an instantly LOVE every tack? This is that album. I admit I was not overly farmiliar with 'Owl Eyes' aka Brooke Addamo but after hearing this not only did I purchase her previous EP's but also bought tickets to see her in Perth at the end of May 2013. Where to begin with this album? It's indie, alternative, synth-pop and somewhat appealing enough to be a commercial success. The songwriting is deep and poignant, the voice is perfection and the music will actually set a mood. The whole album does for that matter. I personally see the colour blue and purple and water when I listen to this album. . . dunno if that's what Brooke was going for here but if an artist can paint a picture with an album then they have done their job well. Standout tracks? Well all of them but my favs are 'Closure' 'Hurricane' 'Love Run Dry' and 'Nightswim' Another amazing track from Brooke is on her 'Faces' EP titled 'Faces' such a great track is you haven't heard it. Purchase this album for defo one of the top releases of 2013 and an album that will stand the test of time and be played on my Ipod for many years to come.

Remarkable? Definitely!

Wow, this album did amaze me. Love almost every single song of it, and yeah, Brooke has something 'del Reyish' in her voice which makes me feel hypnotised. Still, her style is unique, and I would certainly recommend this album as a "five-star" record.

A couple of years after reaching the finals of Australian Idol as a teenager, Melbourne native Brooke Addamo emerged under the moniker Owl Eyes, releasing her debut EP Faces in 2010. Blending lush, '80s-infused synth pop with warm, airy vocals, Addamo quickly gained the support of Australian youth radio giant Triple J and attracted label interest.
