iTunes Review

Shaped by searing lasers of progressive house, trance and modern dance music, The Presets’ Pacifica is a blissed-out utopian Tomorrowland where the clubs stay open all night, parties unfold without drama and breathless kids blow off their fretting parents. While Pacifica’s crisp lines and introspective songwriting are nothing new for the Presets, the pile-on of deeply gratifying melodies has the potential to bring the band to their broadest audience. Tunes like “Fall”, “Push” and “Ghosts” exemplify this perfectly. They have the dark luster and assured melodic facility of ephemeral late-night anthems, but enough subtly—a muted rhythmic thump here, a rueful insinuation there—to make Pacifica awaken in the imagination.

Solid Tunes

A solid album, probaly likely to turn away some of the more ravey-My People fans, but for anyone who enjoyed their previous efforts outside of the My People/Talk Like That scene, it will impress greatly. A more lyricaly based, less seizure inducing, deeper and mature album. 5/5.

Good addition to my collection.

Julian Hamilton (production, keyboards, vocals) and Kimberley Moyes (production, drums, programming) met in the early '90s as students at Sydney's Conservatorium of Music. Both were there to study classical music, but as they delved into the great composers, neither could forget an extracurricular...
