iTunes Editors' Notes

For their 15th album, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds recorded in a 19th century mansion in the south of France, an inspiration for experimentation. Cave’s torch singer baritone slithers around slow-burning tales of observation, freely mixing word play in with Warren Ellis’ spare loops and strings. Cave adds a drop of treacle to make the absinthe go down—name-checking Hannah Montana, Lucifer, and Robert Johnson in “Higgs Boson Blues.” Whether conjuring a minister’s sermon on “Water’s Edge” and creating a two-part meditation on sin and sinners (“Jubilee Street” and “Finishing Jubilee Street”), Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds are most comfortable coiled up in that rarefied airspace between the gutter and the open sea, the chapel and the brothel, the sacred and profane. Push the Sky Away includes a six-minute making-of film.

Customer Reviews

Like a good bottle of plonk...

...Nick and the boys just keep on getting better. One day they'll transmute into pure whiskey, but until then, I'm enjoying the journey.

And I can't wait for the Higgs Boson Blues...

Someone I knew once said, "I can sing better than Nick Cave. I can play better. Hell, I can sometimes write better. But no-one, nowhere, can do them all at once as well as he can."

And Nick's an Aussie. 'Nuff said.

Censorship

Amazing isn't it! In USA you can buy an AK-47 automatic rifle at Kmart but you can't show the human form. because THAT is offensive!!

Looking forward to this

Sounds like a great album, high expectations :D
Pity iTunes has to censor the artwork...
