iTunes Review

Filled with torch songs influenced by hip-hop, Lana Del Rey wrote and recorded Born to Die in a chilling fashion befitting the self-proclaimed “gangster Nancy Sinatra.” There’s no denying these noir-shaded numbers—many of which are built on orchestral accouterments and subtle vocal samples. Del Rey’s husky narrative lingers like smoke clouds, leaving wafts of rhythmic phrasings delivered by an icy, heartbroken femme fatale.

She's the next big thing. The only dislike I have is that she is only doing two shows in Australia not ten. You should come to Queensland Lana.

An excuse to be Indie

I listened to Video Games when it was first released, and at the start of the song I thought it sounded alright. As the song progressed I soon changed my mind; its 4 minutes of the same melody. There is no build to the song, it just stays at the same level through its duration, which is a shame because I initally thought it sounded cool. The more I listen to Lana Del Ray, the more I pick up on how boring her music is. She might have a voice that is unusual and sparks attention, but if someone can listen to this album 3 times within a couple hours, their life must be pretty miserable and depressing, much like the droning voice of Lana Del Ray. Personally, I don't see how people can say she is filled with talent, but credit is given to her for building such a large fan base in a short period of time.

Well done Lana De Rey

She's gonna take over 2012
