iTunes Editors' Notes

The debut full-length from Seattle’s Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, The Heist, is a remarkable introduction to the MC and DJ team. It catapulted the duo to international stardom and helped them earn several GRAMMY®s, including Best New Artist and Best Rap Album. From the jump (“Ten Thousand Hours”), the quick-witted Macklemore tips his cap to Malcolm Gladwell as he professes his love of art and paints a picture of his musical journey. Macklemore proceeds to flex lyrical skills (“Can’t Hold Us"), flaunt a passion for budget fashion on the GRAMMY®-winning smash “Thrift Shop,” reveal uncompromised goals (“Make the Money,” “Jimmy Iovine"), and intelligently deliver endearing stories that further distinguish Macklemore & Ryan Lewis from the rap pack (“Same Love,“ ”Wing$”).

Customer Reviews

Emotional

A album that will have you laughing on one song, then can have you crying on the next . If a album can do that for me and for you, then dam its a incredible album!

Unbelievable

This is in my opinion the best Hip Hop album of the past 5 years, the only thing that compares with it is Kanye's "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" - and only because the beats and craft on that album is ridiculous - however what macklemore does here is actually put across a message with incredible hooks, amazing beats and lyrics that match. Every song is incredible. There is no "album filer," every song sounds like he put "10000 hours" on it. I love this guy more than life itself. I hope it gets big here so I can listen to some real music on the radio.

Argh! Its Incredible!

When I first listened to the album I almost cried because I was so overjoyed at having discovered something this brilliant. What started out as a simple sampler of the album turned into me listening to the whole thing in one sitting as I was encapsulated and drawn in by the fine amount of effort ythat had gone into every song. Macklemore's lyrics are incredible, both content wise and presentation wise, great care has gone into the crafting of each lyric so that it articulates More's mind with a prowess that is hard to find these days. Of course Lewis' production is stunning and the featured artists and instrumentalists have done an outstanding job in making each song sound as if it was somethingdropped from heaven. I love this album and I can confidantly recommend it to anyone. BUY IT!

A grassroots success, Seattle rapper Macklemore not only climbed to number two on the Billboard 200 album charts, but with little mainstream help, his 2012 sophomore release debuted with only Mumford & Sons in his way for the number one spot.
