Long live The Verses

If you needed evidence that Ella and Jesse Hooper have grown up past the dreads and eccentric costumes, then Seasons is that proof. While Ella's voice is still clearly recognisable (her distinct voice is one of the things that has kept me as a fan for the last 14 years), it's clear that this is an adult singing about the complexities that come with age. Love, loss and inner demons feature heavily on the album and Seasons has plenty of light and shade. For example; Teeth is defiantly sexual, while Still Come Around sounds bubbly and almost innocent. There is something here for everyone, especially if you’re feeling a little down and need some country music, the music of pain.
Particular standouts are the aforementioned Still Come Around, the deliciously depressing Lonely Moon, and Midnight, which is the perfect song for dancing around you bedroom.
Whether you're going through a break-up, or just need a soundtrack for life, then I can't recommend this album enough.

The Australian album of the year!

8 seasons

Or more is how long I waited for this album! So happy & proud it has finally hatched, yet nervous that I have to share it with rest of the world. :)

Ella & Jesse (and Mads) put so much love and soul into this over the last few years and finally they have something to show for it, in gorgeous wrapping nonetheless!

A brilliant body of work with quality song writing and top production by Mitchell F.

Being an early Verses fan, I have seen the many 'seasons' EACH song has gone through, (Want Everything, Teeth, Waste of Time etc)

Even though I am very protective and pedantic when it comes to the originals that are now far from what I had grown to cherish - it is still a spectacular album that is very near and dear to my heart!

Lame as it may be - The Verses were the first band to really get through to me, (back when I was barely 18) and their songs have gotten me through a lot of good, bad, happy and sad times! Each song feels as though it was specifically written for a part of me.

The songs are written beautifully, with care and LOTS AND FREAKING LOTS of time (trust us fans to know) thrown into them.

Ella is a wonder, that I've never seen, not could ever match - we don't deserve her!
