The first Christmas album from bandleader Ray Conniff is about as perfect as '50s easy-listening holiday records get. Aside from a sensitive choral setting of "Greensleeves (What Child Is This)" to close out the programme, these songs are all pop standards, ranging from a weightless, twinkling take on the urbane "Silver Bells" to a joyously uptempo rendition of "Sleigh Ride". The massed harmonies of The Ray Conniff Singers give an upbeat, perky sheen even to ballads like "White Christmas" and "The Christmas Song (Merry Christmas to You)".
