Album Review

An Appointment With Mr Yeats sees Mike Scott taking the poetry of Irish poet and playwright William Butler Yeats and setting it to music. Produced by Scott himself with the help of Waterboys bassist Marc Arciero, the album is the culmination of a project that Scott had first initiated with a reworking of Yeats’ “The Stolen Child” on the 1988 album Fisherman’s Blues., Rovi

An Instant Classic

On this remarkable album, MIke Scott breathes new life into the poetry of W B Yeats (Metaphysical poet and one of Irelands great bards) bringing these precious words to a modern audience. Yeats once wrote " The mystical life is the centre of all that I do and all that I think and all that I write." and this could aptly describe the work of Mike Scott. So this work is very much a love song from one spiritual seeker to another. If you are a seeker of the "deeper music" in life, here is a well spring, drink deeply. Be moved and inspired by the fire and the tenderness. This album displays a new level of artistic maturity (from Mr Scott) and is an instant classic. Highly recommended!

Delicate, passionate. Mike Scott and The Waterboys scale heights that they haven’t since Fisherman’s Blues. The Big Music is back.

After college, where he studied English and philosophy, Scott and his band, Another Pretty Face, moved to London; following the group's breakup, he formed the Waterboys, so named after a line...
