iTunes Review

The pub rock legend bares his soul on his fourth collection of foundation classics. Recorded in the American South, Barnes gives it his all, recruiting The Memphis Boys (the backing band for Aretha Franklin, Joe Tex, even Elvis) and guitar slinger Steve Cropper for authentic feel. Little-known b-sides like “She’s Looking Good” and “Hard Working Woman” amplify his debt to soul shouters like Wilson Pickett and Otis Redding.

Again and again

There's no two ways about it, Jimmy knows how to make a killer album. My second favourite of the Soul albums, just a smidge behind Soul Deep. Great job, another No.1 coming Barnesy.
