Album Review

Sweet bandleader and saxophonist Shep Fields is remembered on this Living Era compilation, That Old Feeling. Fields & His Rippling Rhythm had a number of hits between 1936 and 1943, many featuring the novelty sound of blowing through a straw into a glass of water, best represented on the track "I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles." The 26 tracks include seven number one hits: "In the Chapel in the Moonlight," "Cathedral in the Pines," "Thanks for the Memory," "South of the Border," "Did I Remember?," "The Merry-Go-Round Broke Down," and "That Old Feeling." This is a fine compilation for the passionate collector of sweet band-era recordings.
