It's all new!

Previous reviewer must have just looked at the track names without listening. All these songs have been re-recorded in a laid-back accoustic style (some even a Capella). The new versions just prove how good the songs are! Paul has obviously lived with these songs for a long time and I'm guessing this new interpretation reflects how he feels about them now in 2010. It's a beautiful intimate insight. Most PK fans would already have (and know well) most of the original recordings so there is a lot of listening pleasure involved with this re-worked collection. It's like meeting an old girlfriend who's lost weight and changed her hair! Fresh but familiar! Thanks Paul. Can't wait to read the book!

Honesty is from the better man

Yeah the a-z recordings , well recorded and engineered unlike some other live stuff sound is top notch. Good if your out to start a Kelly colection, but like most of us you will see mainly the songs you know and love. But it's more then a redressed ex, it's all your ex girlfriends lined up from Anna to Zoe undressed, haircuts, trimmed taught, interment and with a new trick or two that 30 odd year experiences can only bring .

I've got a better idea.

Interesting. If I hadn't read the second review I'd have thought this was JUST an alphabetical list of PK's best. Not so. Then I listened to a few and have come to the conclusion that they're all JUST updated versions of what are all great tunes. And I mean JUST. The originals were all red hot...and hearing these reinterpretations JUST didn't rock my boat like it was rocked when I first heard them way back then. So, I'm asking myself why? Why did PK feel this was necessary? I'd have rather he spent the time telling us about the origin of each song...where he wrote it...why...for who. In fact, even better, I'd rather he pleasure us with his interpretation of 100 songs as voted by his fans...and by all means list them alphabetically. I'll start the vote...R.E.M.'s Nightswimming.

Singer/songwriter Paul Kelly captures Australia in his songs the way Bruce Springsteen or the Kinks' Ray Davies have encapsulated their homelands, and he does it with the musical energy and diversity of Elvis Costello. The sixth of nine children, Kelly was born in Adelaide in 1955. After school he wandered around Australia for a few years, working odd jobs, writing poetry, and thinking about a career as a short-story writer. He was already in his late teens when he picked up a guitar. Kelly made...
