Eclectic Electric Goodness.

One word would sum up this album. "Eclectic Brilliance..." okay so maybe that's two words... Ranging from Pop to Rock to Electro, Emilie Simon has constructed a brilliant album which shines 1000 reflections of herself. It's an album which is worth listening to, as it doesn't try hard at all. It really just is. Her compositions are simple yet complex. Great use of random noise. Tracks to note: "Dame de Lotus", "Song of the Storm" and "Fleur de Saison". French Singer Songwriter Emilie Simon should be proud of her Eclectic range and achievement. Her cover of Iggy Pop's "I wanna be your Dog" is very well translated, making it very much her own... for that, she should also be very proud.

A real gem of an album, a must have.

I was watching RAGE one morning and the video clip Dame de Lotus was playing, the clip itself was very Bjorky but the music was a real stand out, I downloaded the song after it finished playing. This album hasn't seem to get much air time but don't be fooled everything single track on this album is masterfully crafted like a good house party, it has a very good mix of up beat tracks and also some very mellow tracks to offset the rest of the album. The thing that really makes The Flower Book a real stand out is how the album has been superbly mixed. There's very good use of classical instruments with mellow techno-ish tracks add with Emilie Simon's soft voices makes each song a pleasure to listen to. This album is in my top 5 albums for 2008, it's a must for any person who considers themself a true audiophile.

Years Active: '00s, '10s

Although Emilie Simon is a conservatory-trained experimental musician with a strong theoretical grounding, she has also made a name for herself both as a mainstream soundtrack composer and as an electronic pop musician not far removed from Björk or the Knife, with a distinctively soft, almost babyish voice that at times recalls both early Kate Bush and Claudine Longet. Born in the small coastal city of Montpellier, France, in 1978 into a musical family (her mother is a pianist, her father a sound...
