Album Review

Assembled for the European market by Song BMG, this 11-cut compilation focuses on the recorded catalog of Weather Report after their first three albums — in other words, their most commercially successful period. Featuring a number of different lineups, well-known cuts such as "Birdland," "Teen Town," "Mysterious Traveler," and "Black Market" are included as well as stellar tunes such as "A Remark You Made," "Man in the Green Shirt," and "D-Flat Waltz." There isn't anything unreleased here, but that's fine, because what is here is solid. There are some great tracks missing, but then again, virtually anyone compiling such a set would have come up with a somewhat different selection. For the money, this one can't be beat.
