Dedicated Show Screens

We've received a lot of feedback in recent times regarding the difficulty people had with locating all the relevant episodes and information about a show. We've taken this on board and are introducing show pages in iview. These new show pages bring together all of the available series, episodes, extras, cast and guest information in the one place, making it easier for you to browse and search for specific shows.

What can I do on the show page?

The new show page will group all available series and episodes of that show in the one space, with a extras more easily distinguished. You'll be able to easily jump between multiple series, if available, see all the episodes available to watch, and how much you've watched of each episode.

We'll also be providing more information about the show itself, such as host, guests, cast and related links.

Refreshed Design
iview has been refreshed with an updated look and feel which brings it more in line with other popular ABC services such as ABC News and ABC Listen.

Improved Program Search
We have simplified and improved search to include only show results, rather than the confusing list of episodes that were provided before. We have also added the ability to recognise common misspellings for our popular programs.

Faster iview
The iview app have been completely rebuilt, to make them faster and more reliable. This will also greatly improve our ability to add improvements and new features in coming months.

Improved Accessibility
As part of the refresh, we have taken steps to improve accessibility with support for voiceover and expanding text sizes. There is more improvements in this area coming very soon.

Great App!

There are so many reasons to love the ABC. The pride of it being our 'national broadcaster' is a big one, but the reason I like most is this ... Even though the ABC is government funded and non-commercial, putting it at the mercy of the govt. for funding, the ABC in all its forms (TV, radio, Internet, apps...) is by far the best media outlet we have in Australia..most young people might not agree but you develop this love and respect for our good 'ol national broadcaster as you get older, and I think that's because it's a media source that provides mostly unbiased content and also it doesn't get involved or hung up in ratings wars (like 7 and 9). Personally the constant battling between the two media conglomerates is just pathetic.

While the annual budget for the ABC might seem like a lot, when compared to the aggressively competitive commercial networks, it's peanuts. But despite this, I believe the ABC consistently manages to produce quality media on all platforms, starting with their content on TV and radio right down to the quality of their apps and Internet sites.

We all need to remember that we are lucky to live in a country where the national broadcaster who is entirely dependent on the government for funding, can openly call out or criticise said government when they do wrong!

Five stars for ABC all the way!!! :D

Thanks for the feedback and support!

Great content, great app

I use this app daily and on the whole it's fantastic. An improvement would be to have an alphabetical bar down the side of my Watchlist so I can quickly jump to a program starting with "M" (for example). Another suggestion would be for a jump forward 30 seconds button (why is there only a 30 second rewind button?). And one problem I have noticed is that sometimes a program I've just been watching does not appear on my "Recently Viewed" list, meaning it takes longer to get back to it.

Developer Response

Thanks for the feedback. We are currently looking at the way the Watchlist works as a whole, particularly how best to access it and display the information. As part of this work, we're definitely exploring how to make it easier to get back to the programs you were watching quickly. We'll keep your points above in consideration during this work.
Thanks again.
