Disappointing for single/mobile users
For the corporate world Airtable would be a great asset, however for single users and those where mobile coverage is sketchy then severe limitations exist. If you can’t get access to the Airtable servers you are SOL.
Disappointingly, two of the most requested development items, linking bases and offline access, have had little or no work in two years. I’m only guessing at that as feedback from developers on the Airtable forum on these issues is minimal.
It would appears that limited data is stored on the local device as images (in particular) are constantly being sent from Airtable servers to be viewed. My database is about flowers and downloading flower images from Airtable every time I access a plant record (when the images are sitting right there on my iPad or the iCloud) punches a huge hole in my ISP data allowance.
Finally, Kanban views are not available for iPad/iPhone users. For me, this is a real pita.
Very good but ...
To make this a 5 star app, it really needs to work offline. The nature of mobile phones mean that you don’t always have a reliable connection. Since you effectively can’t use the app without a solid connection, it really hamstrings this apps potential. In remote areas I need to record all my data in the Notes app and later transcribe it to Airtable, which is frustrating and time consuming.
Assuming a solid connection this app is very well designed and thought out.
Great but limited on mobile
What has been built is great - stable, well designed and super smooth. Just a shame that it only supports table. Card view of data is one airtable’s key features. Easy five stars with the other views supported and bonus points if you guys add a Gantt chart view!
