Alipay is a leading open platform for payments and digital services in China.
Users with a Chinese ID and bank account can use Alipay to make payments online and in person at various merchants outside of China as they travel for leisure, business, or study.
Foreign visitors to China can connect their credit card to take advantage of Alipay’s widespread acceptance by tens of millions of merchants across the country. Alipay is not designed or intended for use by foreign users in their home country or anywhere outside of China.
With the users' permission this app can connect to Health [HealthKit] to enable users to participate in walkathons and make donations via the "sports" service. This feature is designed for use by Chinese users in China. It is not necessary to enable this feature to make payments.

Went back to China in 2018 and found the app has replaced cash at all.
It’s easy to use with all convenience, dining, entertaining, and anywhere shopping.
1 problem: hard to top up for people doesn’t have bank account in China
Too many ads
Everything you do in this app will have ads. Someone scans a payment from your QR and then you’ll see an ad on the payment successful page. Pay your electricity and you’ll get an ad. Pay medical services and you’ll get ads. Open the menu at any restaurant and you’ll get a ads. Order food delivery in this app and you’ll get dozens of ads throughout your transaction. Even if you don’t use the app you’ll still get multiple notification ads every day.
This app is completely full of ads and it really ruins the experience of using this otherwise revolution payment service and mini-app ecosystem.
