GIZMODO: "With handcrafted visuals and an ethereal soundtrack, Aquaria looks, feels and plays just like a gothic fairy-tale. And it’s not just a loving pastiche of the classic 2D games of yesteryear. Aquaria brings the genre bang up to date with a fresh concept and a unique control system." (Gaming App of the Day)
POCKETGAMER: "Aquaria is absolutely gorgeous, and filled with clever ideas and smart puzzles. Both a calming splash in the sea and a frantic fight against the elements, it's an essential iPad game." (Top 10 iOS Games, November 2011)
TOUCHARCADE: "a gorgeous and well-produced title with a sharp emphasis on world-building and character growth." (Best iOS Games, November 2011)
EDGE MAGAZINE: "Aquaria’s gloomy caverns are a delight to explore, and, a rarity for a modern Metroidvanias, the designers don’t constantly lead the way for you."

Gem of a game
The epitome of an excellent adventure game - beautiful graphics and world, easy controls, engrossing story with an intriguing heroine, fun to play, lots to do and find in game. This game is well suited for touchscreen, especially with the singing powers. The bosses were a nice challenge that required a bit of thought to work out how to defeat. The maps are huge (so big you can get a bit lost) and there's a ton of treasures, recipes and powers for the die-hard completionist to find. 20+ hours of gameplay and fun for $5.50 is money well spent. I think this game would also be suitable for older children (maybe 10+ years).
I enjoyed the story and I'm a fan of Aquaria! A shame that the developers aren't making a sequel...
This is a wonderful port, when I first played Waking Mars I immediately thought of Aquaria and thought it would be awesome if they made a port, and you did! It's well done. The only thing that I can complain about is the rippling water when you spin your finger around Naija, it is hard to control, especially on the Sun Temple level when spinning the cogs. Other than that I'd like to congratulate the team for making the port. I hope there is a future game in the making?
Work of art & brilliant game
It's a must buy! I wish there were more games like this on the iPad. It's a full on lengthy game with many bosses to beat and also requires strategy. I love the unusual controls based on singing and gathering foods for healing and special skills. Love the graphics, music and story line. Whilst I was hoping there'd be more challenging games like these, it seems a lot are just simplified boring rip off versions from their originals. This one's a true jewel!
