Castle Story‪™‬ 9+

For a player who prefers cooperation over conquest, Castle Story is a great game.

It has more going for it than the regular city building game & because of that, it’s as easy or as complex to play as the player wishes it to be.

You don’t need to pay to play, but thanks to the limited time events, the pressure to succeed, or endure a wasted effort, is increased. Much money can be spent so best keep the credit card handy, or locked away.

The graphics are simplistically beautiful & the story emphasis on fantasy over reality, provides a nice escape from all the hard core war games & reality focused simulations that are out there.

I’d go as far to say that Castle Story strikes a nice balance between appealing to male & female players. It’s a very playable game that is simple to start & keeps the player interested along the way, with regular rewards & an overall rewarding kingdom development trajectory.

I give it 4 stars out of 5 due to the high playability & positive feeling of assisting players & being assisted, with a markdown only due to the obvious intent to elicit micro transactions.

Overall, I’d recommend Castle Story to any strategic or analytical type who also enjoys an imaginative fantasy storyline.

I love this game. I have played it almost daily for years, I enjoy getting new buildings and upgrading them. However, often there are quests given with a time frame and these are basically impossible to finish, it’s incredibly frustrating. For example I’m currently in one of the final stages of a goal where you have to find 40 honeypots. You find 1 honeypot whenever you come across a bear, so you have to find 40 bears. However, you need to defeat each bear with 20 strikes! That’s 40 x 20. It takes 1 hour be able to have 20 strikes, so that’s 1 bear per hour. Now if you played this game 8 hrs a day (8 bears defeated) it would take 5 days to get your 40 honeypots!! Now I play a lot, but that’s just unfair. Just for this one little part of the goal. It’s just so unachievable. It would be a lot more enjoyable if they made it a touch easier for their players. A lot of the time I just don’t bother with the timed goals because you never finish them. Sorry for my rant but just annoyed at the moment. Thanks.

I've been playing every day for nearly 4 years now. It's my favourite game. I especially like that we can 'talk' directly to our neighbours in real time. In the beginning it was really hard to complete events, but I persisted for about a year and now mostly finish with several days to spare & I have never paid real money to do so. I rarely use gems to speed things up. I work full time, but mostly can find a minute or two for 2 hourly energy collections during events. The events are somewhat repetitive in the requirements but that's ok. I hate leaderboard events but now it's combined with monster hunts I can ignore it. The storyline's are fun & entertaining.
