FireReady is the official Victorian Government app for CFA, MFB and DELWP bushfire warnings and information. Download FireReady and set up Watch Zones to ensure you receive official warnings and information for your area. See the FAQs at, watch the FireReady video at or email if you need further assistance.
Getting a message asking Allow "FireReady" to access to your location? You need to Allow access to see incidents and warnings for your Current Location.

Getting a message asking you to turn on notifications? You need to ensure that push notifications are enabled specifically for the FireReady app, as follows:

For iOS8, iOS6 and iOS5:
1. Click on the Settings icon and then select Notifications.
2. Scroll down and ensure that FireReady is in the 'In Notification Centre' section.
3. To change FireReady to be included for notifications, click the FireReady icon and select Notification Centre as On.
4. We recommend that you set Alert Style as 'Banners' or Alerts' and ensure that Sounds and View in Lock Screen are also On.

For iOS7:
1. Open the device's Settings icon and then select 'Notification Center'.
2. Under 'Access on Lock Screen', check that 'Notifications View' is On (showing as green).
3. Scroll further down and ensure that FireReady is in the list under INCLUDE. Click it to open it.
4. At the top, set Alert Style as 'Banners' or Alerts'
5. Then ensure that everything in this section is turned On - ‘Badge App Icon’, ‘Sounds’, 'Show in Notification Center', 'Show on Lock Screen’, etc (all should be showing as green).

Updating to a new phone? Your Watch Zones may not function on your new device – if this occurs delete all watch zones, reinstall FireReady from scratch on your new device, and then re-create watch zones as new.

Fire and emergency services use a range of other information channels including SKY TV, ABC local radio, some commercial and designated community radio stations, Victorian Bushfire Information Line (VBIL) on 1800 240 667, VicEmergency on and social media channels including CFA Twitter and Facebook.

Please refer to the Terms & Conditions and Disclaimer within the app for further information, view the FAQs at or email the team at if you need further assistance.

Bad to the point of being dangerous

I'm appalled to see so many people seem to have the same trouble I do- notifications that are supposedly expired, not receiving notifications for things you've set it to notify you for... How can something we are supposed to rely on be so bad? It USED to work, but no more... The other night I woke to hear the local fire sirens, app went off, I opened it to be told it had expired, only to have it appear when I went to the CFA website. And the fire was TWO AND A HALF km from my house- yet the app said it didn't exist... And don't even start on the fact I get NO alerts on my phone, despite it working before and having everything checked . I live in a bad fire zone and this is dangerous. I have little hope for the update ( which will probably not work on my older phone. Fix it before people die.

It's okay but...

It's a good app to find out about incidents in your area but I find that we aren't given enough information about what's happening, I know there are certain things you're unable to disclose but I'm sure you could give a brief description, some people might freak out and avoid leaving their house for something they don't need to worry about, I often find myself unsure about hazardous material, chemical hazards, accident/ rescue and other incidents as they could be anything, knowing if a road has been closed or is still open but a lane or two are closed (for incidents not just advice, watch and act warnings), knowing the type of hazardous materials/ chemicals involved, etc would be very helpful

Annoying and dangerous

You get warnings at 0230 am which when opened let you know that the warning is outdated. During the day (and night) you get outdated warnings 3 - 4 days after fires have been put out. This prompts people to turn off warnings or set 5 km radius only. This of course leaves people uninformed so might as well not have the app in the first place. I am very close to deleting this app from all my devices. Well done for making an otherwise good app so annoying.
