Some Pros but lots of Cons too
I love how easy it is to log in using a simple pin. I always had a lot of difficulty logging on with the old version, or it wound just take half a day to process a transfer. However I have several accounts that I regularly transfer money between. The account numbers aren't displayed when transferring between accounts so you have to know the exact balance of that account or check it through "view accounts" each and every time you need to transfer money. I also would like to see more transactions then just 20. There's also no running balance which the old version didn't have either but it would be more useful. I'd also like to be able to see and create scheduled transfers or bpays. The old version let you at least see them and If you can pay a new person through the app, you should be able to create a scheduled transfer? Overall a few pros but lots of cons too. Quicker & easier to transfer money between accounts or pay bills on the app but you will need to access the website on your PC more often for a few everyday things you used to be able to do on the app.
Security and Location Issues!
Serious Security Deficiency - in that this new version of the App does not turn off wi-fi by default! It should at least do so if you are not on your trusted home wi-fi network - perhaps with a big flashing button on the home screen where you log in your PIN or full credentials. Public wi-fi networks are often monitored by hackers in busy locations like shopping malls and airports - you do not want to do banking in this context.
Find ATM facility is also not working properly - it comes up with location services deemed to be off and does not find where you are on the map presented. Even when forced to the right place, it does not show new ATM locations. For example Gouger Street Adelaide CBD has moved their branch down the road a hundred or so meters but it shows neither the old nor new ATM location.
Old iPhone Support - My wife has an older iPhone 3G and does not want to upgrade yet many apps stop working or refuse to upgrade on older phones. This is not a problem unless the server stops supporting the older phone. Please make sure this does not happen in banking applications...
Those complaining about your balance being on the screen without logging in. You simply turn off "simple balance" in the settings. Please go through the app for more than 30 seconds before posting bad reviews.
Second: App is great, finally a nice paypass functionality (with sticker). Got mine ordered.
Is a bit buggy/jumpy but I'm sure it will be fixed with future releases.
The first screen should show your balance, or cards, or accounts. Either of those, rather than the "log off" screen.
Also the ability to change the background, or simply make the background more "generic" rather than some people on a beach. Sure it looks nice, but it's too "specific" to be a fixed background in the app.
Overall great update! Keep it coming commbank!
