What's New in Version 4.1.1
Match notifications so you'll never miss a moment of the Ashes!
Update for version released early December. Despite a new version and developer response claiming notifications have been fixed, there has still not been one notification come through to my phone iPad or watch. The only thing fixed is the subscription bell now stays ticked when you exit and re-enter the match screen. Reinstall does not fix this.
One of the handiest things about any sporting app is the ability to be notified when matches start and when major things happen during the match. While this app advertises it as a feature, it has been problematic for at least two years now. Most recently the only notifications I get is KFC trivia, despite having that unticked in my notification preferences.
I realise now that when I go in and take notifications for a match, simply going back and will reveal that the selection didn’t register correctly. But no matter how many times I reselect, I cannot get it to stay on.
Reinstalling the app does not fix this issue.
Money trap app
As I was overseas during a recent series I paid a 1 year subscription for the live TV part of the app. When the subscription expired I cancelled the renewal. However I was billed for it anyway for another year that I didn’t want or need. When I rang Apple they told me that this was because I had continued to use the app. I explained that I only used the app to access commentary and scores which are free and didn’t use the live streaming. They agreed to refund me but advised that I delete the app, which I was happy to do because finding games on it was difficult and there are better cricket apps available.
iPhone X bar persisting, short display, pixelated
Unlike when viewing the Ashes live, the iPhone X home/bottom button persists in State v state games. The “high quality” playback for the Ashes is also more pixelated, and poorly pixelated at that, compared to the quality when watching via the computer. It does also not allow you to elongate the taller display of the iPhone X
