Fun but demoralizing
Firstly - this hasn't been updated since 2014, and my iPad pops up a warning about it making it run slowly. There doesn't seem to be a support link either.
To the app - my son loved the look and it seemed fun, but he's on the youngest end of the spectrum. The questions go from simple to far too hard... probably too simple for older kids and too hard for younger.
IF the app is intended to help develop memory etc then it fails, as he was crying from not being able to do too many of the questions in a row. I want him positively motivated... want to help him have fun while stretching himself.
Since each question is a step harder than the last, this is an easy way of stopping. If they can't remember 4 sequential numbers then seriously, why ask them 5 and 6? Just skip that and move on to the reverse numbers - and if they can't do 3 don't go on. There are better ways to be adaptive too.
It looks fun. The kids want to play. But then it's very disappointing to the young kids.
I have used this with both dyslexic and non dyslexic kids in my family to see where areas of weakness might be and need working on.
Love the email option to update parents on progress. The little exercises are short and fun to do.
Only negative is cannot use with multiple children as you loose progress to date. This is annoying as we have to share the iPad between them.
Helpful to understand reading problems
I found this app really helpful to pinpoint what has been slowing down my six year old in learning to read. Now I am able to help her in the specific area where she needs help. There is no data provided in this app to compare how she did with others her age. This would have been more helpful.
Up to six family members will be able to use this app with Family Sharing enabled.
