Interacting with Medicare and accessing your Medicare information just got quicker when you use the Express Plus Medicare mobile app.
Before downloading the Express Plus Medicare mobile app, you need a myGov account linked to Medicare.
The Express Plus Medicare mobile app is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Using the app you can:
•View your Medicare card details and current card members.
•Update contact details.
•Update bank account details.
•Order a replacement or duplicate Medicare card.
•View, download, print or email your Medicare Claims History Statements for the last 3 years.
•View your Medicare Safety Net balance.
•View, download, print or email immunisation history statements for:
- your child under the age of 14
•Register your organ donation decision.
•Change your organ donation decision.
•Request a new Organ donor card.
•View a digital copy of your Organ donor card.
•Locate a service centre.
Before submitting your claim using the Express Plus Medicare mobile app, you should check if your doctor is able to do this on your behalf. Many doctors now provide this service.
Setting up the app
1. Download and install the Express Plus Medicare mobile app.
2. Agree to terms and conditions.
3. Select the icon in the centre of the screen. Login using your existing myGov username and password.
4. Answer your secret question (used to set up your myGov account) to set up your 4-digit PIN. You’re then good to go!
It’s important you don’t store your 4-digit PIN on your mobile device. This is for your safety if you lose your mobile device. If you think someone else has used your details without your knowledge, contact us.
By using Express Plus Medicare, you acknowledge the legal obligations you must comply with when completing transactions. These obligations are detailed in the declarations agreed to when using specific functionality within Express Plus Medicare.

Can’t upload photos. Why not?
It’s 2018.... why can’t an enormous Government department pay for IT Contractors to add a function that allows users to upload emailed Receipts (PDFs and Screenshot images of PDFs) to the Vault area, to then attach to a claim?
I received an emailed PDF receipt from my Specialist, so I attempted to lodge my claim via the Medicare Mobile App, only to see there’s still no functionality to attach images or PDF files from your Mobile.... So I then logged in to MyGov/Medicare on my desktop computer in order to attach the file, only to have Medicare advise that “those items numbers must be claimed via the Medicare Mobile App...”. Really Medicare? REALLY?? So I then have to print off a hard copy of my receipt, log back in to the Mobile App, to then take a photo of a printed off PDF file, in order to submit the claim. Unbelievably frustrating, inefficient process.
Makes me wonder if Medicare is purposefully making the App and online claim process so inefficient, frustrating and time consuming that many people give up on less expensive claims.
Why can’t I upload screenshot of receipt??
I like this app when I occasionally have a paper receipt but most businesses are paperless and email receipts. For an app like this to be truly functional it needs to have the capability to upload pdfs or screenshots of receipts, it is so frustrating printing and then taking a picture for the vault. This is needed in the next upgrade, it is a joke at the moment, as it is I have to use the app as the triage staff won’t let ordinary claims be processed in person.
Also, some type of notification system to let you know if there is a problem or hold-up with your claim being processed would be useful also. As it stands, you send through a claim and when you notice that you haven’t gotten a rebate, you call, are placed on hold and then someone tells you why your claim wasn’t processed. Surely a note could be added that you could check in the app?
Basically, app has potential and needs to add basic functions.
Please add more functionality to this app
I often have multi item receipts to claim. It is quicker to go to a Medicare office and receive a rebate there, than the amount of time it takes to individually add each service date and add a document every single time. Alternatively please allow more item numbers to be processed via online claiming. When I have used this app previously it hasn't worked, but would not notify that it had not worked. I waited three weeks for payment, where I then went into a office and was told it did not go through. Please add more functionality to this app as it could help crowd issues at offices and be a real help to the general public. This could be very convenient if developed properly.
