Welcome to Apple

This is a piece of software that rightfully belongs with the operating system for the iPad. It is bizarre that Apple, and most of the other brainwashed Apple fanatics out there believe that the iPad is viable without this software. Yet, for some reason this is part of the aftermarket for the iPad.

As far as it goes this is an adequate bit of software. Mercifully it coordinates with the e-mail apps to allow local storage and viewing of documents, but is quite buggy. The reader crashes regularly, and on one occasion managed to reboot the iPad (an achievement in itself). The free version is bereft of file (re)naming, an essential feature, so is worth the additional couple of dollars for the full version.

Another downside is that the file storage does not appear to be accessible using other apps. Another confusing Apple architecture decision I am led to believe. Sigh. One day the market will catch up.

Great solution, especially for those without WiFi

I've been on the hunt for a good file reader for my iPod touch. There are a number of different solutions, but the majority rely on using WiFi protocols to transfer files to and from the mobile device. I don't have WiFi, so most of those were out of the question. FileAid, however, is compatible with DigiDNA's free DiskAid utility, which allows you to send files directly to your iPod touch/iPhone via USB. It works fairly well, although it did not recognise the file format of a .html web page I saved. For those who want/need a way to view documents on the go, but don't have a WiFi configuration to send files wirelessly, FileAid + DiskAid is a good combination. For those with WiFi, FileAid can also send and receive files that way too.

Just the ticket

Great app to quickly put documents on your mobile or iPad. The new memory management module, although useful in concept, is rather annoying though.
Interop with other iPad/iPhone apps is very good.
Great for reviewing PDF documents on the go without having to first email them to yourself.
Also great for storing attachments from emails, like the e-ticket of your next flight. Much faster to retrieve from here than trawling through your emails.
Regular user on both iPhone and iPad and love it. Just beware of the custom PDF reader. The buffering it claims to do for large docs does not seem to work. Keeps crashing or running out of memory.
