Description

Simple. Free. It can save a life. The official Australian Red Cross First Aid app gives you instant access to the information you need to know to handle the most common first aid emergencies. Interactive and simple step-by-step advice means it’s never been easier to know first aid.

Developed for the Australian market as part of a global project by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent societies and Red Cross’ Global Disaster Preparedness Centre the APP features up to date CPR and First Aid guidelines as set out by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC).

Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

Very useful App - Some suggestions

The App is very good as it covers all the common emergency situations with clear and easy to follow first aid advice. It is better than other first aid apps I have tried.

Some suggestions in case they help (note: I am not medically trained):
1. Most emergency topics cover basic First Aid very well for the first few minutes or up to an hour while waiting for an Ambulance and/or professional medical help to arrive.

In many situation an Ambulance and/or professional medical help could be up to 12 hours away (e.g. remote camping / bushwalking, backpacking in Wilderness areas, no mobile phone signal, vehicle breakdown).

*** I would very much like to see an extra topic for each section giving some basic advice for First Aid treatment after the first hour. ***

2. Using "Heatstroke" and "Hypothermia" terms can be a bit confusing. Although it is good to use the correct medical term some people may not know what Hypothermia is and most people confuse Hypo- and Hyper- thermia.

Would you please consider relabelling these two sections as:

"Heatstroke (HyPERthermia)"
and
"Dangerously cold (HyPOthermia)"

Thanks for listening. :)

Needs work yet

I’m a bit disappointed by this app. Yes, the information is useful, but the app itself seems poorly designed. There could be better use of images (I agree with the reviewer who questioned why show creepy snakes on the snake bit page. Is there not a more useful images?). It needs a search function. There are grammatical errors, some repetition, and plenty of missing punctuation - this always makes me question the trustworthiness of an app’s information. Being Red Cross, I realise that this was probably done on a very limited budget, but I was hoping for better.

What the other user said...

It would be fantastic to see the ads popping up while you’re looking for information that could probably save someone’s life. Seriously, thanks for keeping this app ad-free!
