Fantastic field tool for the profession frog botherer AND the less experienced amateur...no hard copy currently out there comes close to this app
Best way to identify Australian frogs
Some wildlife apps are just scanned versions of books. Not this one, as it uses the advantages of an app format to great effect. For each species there are multiple high quality photos showing the degree of variation between individual frogs; no book illustrates that thoroughly. And it includes a great selection of calls, usually with multiple recordings per species. The text is comprehensive; the seasonal activity table and precise microhabitat descriptions being particularly useful (and all too rare in frog books). As the authors include one of Australia's most active frog researchers it's totally up to date, as it includes species only named in the last year and the distribution maps reflect the latest taxonomy and include recently located populations. This is the most up to date and comprehesive product for identifying Australian frogs.
A must have.
This is a brilliant app. Australia has been lacking a decent comprehensive frog field guide that doesn't weigh a tonne.
Not only does it have multiple photos and descriptions of all Australian species but it has call recordings for them. This app will prove invaluable for biodiversity surveys or anyone with an interest in wildlife.
Plus it is very user friendly.
Up to six family members will be able to use this app with Family Sharing enabled.
