Description

Bring Magazines to life!

Use the Genie app to access related multimedia content straight from pages in your favourite magazines. You can watch videos, scroll through picture galleries, enter into competitions, participate in polls and much more! All right from the page! Just look out for the Genie logo in your favourite magazines. When you see it just follow these two simple steps:

1) Download the free Genie app on your iphone, ipad or ipod touch 4th Generation.

2) Launch the app and hold the phone camera steady, 4 – 7 inches (10 – 18 cm) away from the indicated content. Wait for your phone to vibrate and Presto! You can now watch related videos, scroll through picture galleries and much much more! You can find sample materials to try this app with at http://www.pacificmags.com.au/genieapp

For more information on the Genie platform and to find a full list of magazines using Genie visit http://www.pacificmags.com.au/genieapp

Genie lets you use your iphone, ipad or ipod touch 4th Generation to detect imperceptible digital watermarks or QR codes in printed materials found. Digital watermarks are imperceptible digital codes that can easily be embedded into printed content; you can’t see them, but your phone can.

So watch out for Genie app icon. When you see the Genie icon, launch the app and hold the phone camera steady, 4 – 7 inches (10 – 18 cm) away from any watermarked content. Read a digital watermark or a QR code to link to, video, picture galleries, information and related content through many different types of network services.

Why use a mobile app?

The app works fine, but what's the point of using a mobile device to scan the cover if it's just going to direct me to a video on a web page that isn't even optimised for mobile use? I can barely see the video on that website on my phone. This app has great potential, it just needs to be utilised better!

Doesn't take you to scanned item

I have no problem scanning or downloading. However, after you have scanned, say a recipe, it doesn't take you to the recipe, you have to go on this longwinded journey to try and find it.

Really needs to be simplified, its far too time consuming and somewhat complicated and it needn't be.

Useful App

Super easy to use with iPad. Article on the screen within 10 seconds of "hovering" over icon on magazine page.
