A great app ruined.


Sorry, but the new version of this app is a massive step backwards. It's slow, difficult to read, and what's with the crazy display sliding all over the place? Who on Earth thought that would be a good user experience? It's like the stupid steps animation (not new). Like I really want to wait every time I open the app to see numbers count up from zero to 12 or 13 thousand several times, who doesn't love that? How about some settings to control the ui options?

You can no longer see months or weeks on the graphs, only years(!) unless you select a specific measurement. And pinch and zoom is now unusable, since it just jumps between month, quarter, year and all, which is over 4 years in my case. Why suddenly add that limitation? Did customers complain that they could view exactly the interval they were interested in and wanted that feature removed?

It really feels like an app designed and built by people who don't actually use it themselves, like they are more concerned with it looking pretty and showing off "clever" coding tricks than making a simple app that is useful and functional.

Version 3.3.0: pedometer needs fixing, plenty of room for improvement

PROS: 1-It replaced the stupid butterfly design with a simple interface, so that’s a plus.

HOW TO MAKE IT BETTER: 1-Restore the pedometer’s ability to update every 5 or 10 steps like it used to on the Withings app. At present the pedometer updates every 1000 steps, which is pathetic.

2-Show bodyfat as a separate graph, instead of merging it with weight and BMI.

3-Add the option to have a bodyfat target, not just a weight target.

4-Add “Lowest bodyfat value” to “Lowest weight value” in the Profile section.

5-Make dashboard the home tab, as it’s the most useful.

6-Get rid of the greeting at the top of the Home tab - it just wastes valuable screen estate.

7-Get rid of “Dashboard” at the top of the Dashboard tab - we don’t need to see it twice.

8-Optimise the app for iPad Pro 12.9 - at the moment it doesn’t even fill the screen.

9-Add the option to overlay this year’s graph with last year’s graph, so we can compete against ourselves.

10-Ditch the BMI graph, which is the same as the bodyfat graph and therefore useless.

CONCLUSION: The Withings scale is a terrific way to track your weight and bodyfat. I just wish Nokia hadn’t screwed up this app. Listen to your customers and fix it.

Getting better all the time


Great to see that the bugs have been ironed out and it is now easier to use the program.
One feature I would like to see included is the ability to edit the start time for sleep tracking. I often watch a movie before bed and this is logged as light sleep with a awake section where I go to bed. If the ability edit the start time was given then this could be tidied up and reflect actual sleep more accurately.
