The healthdirect app includes a Symptom Checker tool which guides you through a series of questions to help you make an informed decision about what to do next, whether it is self-care or seeing a health professional.

The healthdirect app includes an Australia-wide directory covering a range of health services. Easily find the health service you need, when you need it, and get contact details and directions from your current location. The services directory also includes My Health Record enabled services.

All information in the healthdirect app is sourced from Australia’s leading health organisations and has undergone a quality assurance process so people can know it is safe, appropriate and relevant for Australians. It complies with Healthdirect Australia’s Clinical Governance Framework and is backed by the governments of Australia.
A helping hand in emergencies
The healthdirect app can be used in emergency situations. It will display latitude and longitude coordinates which you can relay to emergency service operators when you don’t know exactly where you are.

Health Check - very helpful
After being ill for the past 4 days & knowing my GP is away for another 2 days, I wanted confirmation as to whether I should go to the ED or wait. Advice was quick, detailed, accurate & helpful. Only negative is the App states FREE but ITunes charged me $1:00. ??
Failed to get even close
I already know my diagnoses and was just testing to see how good this was.....and this app was way, way off base telling me to basically have an aspirin a rest, when I actually have a chronic condition that needs close medical supervision.. needs to be able to BUILD a profile made up of several symptoms prior to leaping to conclusions after entering one or two symptoms.
I wish every Australian used this app. So many trips to the emergency department are not warranted. Don’t go if you have a minor issue that would be better addressed by you GP.
