Description

HomeSafe View: Live Swann CCTV viewing on your iPhone and iPad
HomeSafe View supports the following features:
Multi-channel viewing with up to 16 cameras on screen at the same time (16ch view works best on iPads)
Play back stored recordings from your DVR on your handset or tablet (requires high upload speed internet)
Change settings on your DVR or NVR in app
Capture video from your camera live view to your iPhone to play back later
Capture single and multi still images and save these to your iPhone's picture library
Control PTZ (pan, tilt, zoom) cameras remotely

Note: Current model handsets and iPads are recommended for high resolution playback and live viewing more than 8 cameras at once.

Note: This app uses a data stream that will connect to your Swann DVR via 4G/5G or WiFi. When using 4G/5G, the video from your DVR will likely be considered "downloads" by your phone service provider and will contribute to any download limit your phone data plan may have. If you exceed any plan limits you may incur additional usage charges. Consult with your mobile service provider regarding the use of a video streaming app and how it may affect your plan.

Lacks functionality

The software is overly confusing and doesn’t even remember basic settings like picture quality. That’s when the camera feeds actually show up. Someone suggested that an AppleTV app would be good. I wholeheartedly agree but if they can’t get the software right on their own box (the Swann “wizard” is more of a rambling idiot), poor documentation and after how many failed attempts to create something user-friendly on IOS..? They need to focus on making it easier to use. Rather than “impress” me with how many buttons you can fit on a screen - give me the option to hide the ones I will never use so the ones I do are easier to find. Remember my choices and make it more reliable. If you’re looking for an “Apple experience” look elsewhere.

Latest software update

I recently updated the Home View security camera app, expecting improvements and perhaps some new features. However, I was utterly disappointed with the outcome. The most glaring issue is the significant decline in picture quality. Before the update, I could easily discern details with high-definition clarity. Now, it's like looking through a foggy window – everything appears fuzzy and indistinct. What's the point of introducing new options if the basic functionality of seeing what's happening is compromised? As a user relying on this app for security purposes, clarity and precision are paramount. The current state of the app fails to deliver on these essential aspects. Frankly, it's frustrating and defeats the purpose of having a security camera app on my phone. I strongly urge the developers to reconsider this update or provide an option to revert to the previous software version. If the trade-off for new features is sacrificing the core functionality of the app, then it's not a worthwhile update in my opinion. The latest update of the Home View security camera app is a step backward. I hope the developers take user feedback into account and prioritize restoring the picture quality to its former high-definition clarity.

Latest update is poor design

The latest update has supposed to have simplified the view but it’s had the opposite effect. When you hold the phone, the view of all the cameras has been squashed up to the top half of the iPhone screen rather than previously taking up all of the screen. When you rotate to landscape, the screen is filled but the user option bar pops up at the bottom of the screen and obscures the view of the bottom cameras when you display a 9 camera system. You have to wait for the pop up screen to disappear and as soon as you touch the screen it pops back up again. It’s gone from a simple user friendly view to a squashed cramped and awkward to use view.
