Epic orders from history #2: If you’ve ever fancied eating a balloon, there’s a restaurant in Chicago, USA, where you can order one for dessert. An apple and sugar mixture is inflated with voice-changing helium, which means you’ll sound as silly as you look when you eat it. At a wallet-deflating $190 a pop though, it’s quite possibly just a lot of hot air.

This month’s update includes the usual ingenious ingredients that make ordering the food you love easier than ever.

My food was delivered to the wrong address

I had my food delivered to the wrong address; the driver called me when he was down the street, I told him my house number and he said he was at a different number down the street. I could hear him through the phone speaking to someone, I told him he must be at the wrong address and he hung up on me. I then found out he delivered it to this person. I called him back and was told “there was nothing he could do, it’s just too bad as it’s been delivered now”. Absolutely disgusted that this is the service we pay for. I then spent 45 minutes on the phone with menu log trying to get it resolved. I was told I could be credited two vouches, one for $50 and one for $10 (my order total was $61). Unfortunately at checkout you can only redeem one voucher per order so again I’m out of pocket and inconvenienced some more just to add to all the frustration. Poor system. Definitely will not be ordering through menu log again. Absolutely appalled that something like this could happen and that there are no repercussions for these “independent” Menu log drivers, or the lovely person that happily claimed a free meal on my expense. Absolutely disgusting.

Menulog is great but minimum prices make me :(

I really love using Menulog, super easy way to order and compare prices from different restaurants. One criticism I have though is for the restaurants themselves, when I choose delivery a lot of restaurants have their minimum order set at 40 dollars. Now sometimes this is fine when I have friends over for dinner, but when it is just me....how am I supposed to get an order to 40 dollars?? Do I order two of everything and save it for tomorrow? Will I eat it tomorrow? Do I throw it away?? The idea of ordering food just to hit a minimum order quota ends up being so ridiculous that I usually go with the ‘riskier’ option that has less good reviews but lets me order what I want without having an existential crisis. Really love the app though! Gets used frequently as I am a lazy college student who doesn’t leave the house 👍🏼

New updates have effected business negatively

Being a restaurant partner I would like to say that firstly my restaurant does not open on your new app. Tried it a million times, uninstalled and reinstalled it too.
Spoke to Menulog customer care 3 weeks ago multiple times and nothing.

Secondly, the customer loyalty program was a beautiful way of rewarding regular loyal customers but you took that off and instead jacked up the prices for sponsorship where restaurants are paying 20%-30% to stay on top of your listings otherwise they are put low in your search ratings.

Top placement is a failure and again is costing restaurants more than what you pay for a franchisee royalty fees. Your commission has gone up almost 50% in the last year alone.
The app since updated has just a horrible user interface. Very slow, not user friendly at all.

The reason restaurant partners are still with Menulog because they are having a monopoly in this field and no one can do anything about it because people order even if their ratings are so low.

Unfortunately you guys are taking complete advantage of your position and charging restaurants at an average of more than $1500/month. This is called exploitation. This is how the restaurants trying to have a fair go and do the right thing are treated.

Customers please call your restaurant directly and eliminate such agents from the middle. They just make the prices go higher, for the restaurant and yourself.
Shameful business ethics.

Sorry to hear you are having a negative experience with Menulog. All restaurants are live on the new apps and website so you shouldn't be having an issue here - could you please email your restaurant name and issue below to enquiries@menulog.com.au and we will investigate immediately for you?

As you know, Menulog has a flat commission of 14%, which has not increased in the last year. We have worked with our valued restaurant partners over the past twelve years to ensure we have a fair and reasonable cost for local businesses, many of whom do not have the resource to facilitate online orders.

Furthermore, we have no lock in contracts or exit fees and our menu prices for customers are always the same as what you would pay if ordering from the restaurant directly.

We'd be more than happy to discuss this with you, along with any other issues you have.
