AVOID UPGRADE

Unlike some other users, mine is not crashing everytime I open it. However, it seems virtually impossible to actually use. I upgraded right before covering a tradeshow, and intended to publish video daily. Now I have to wait until I get back home to my MacMini, which fortunately is running the old version.

I cannot help but feel that once again Apple has the wrong priorities. This version seems to be all about making it like iMovie on iOS — completely useless to me. In the process of this conversion, they have messed up just about everything.

Just so impossible. Really, really let down. Apple has damaged the future of my business. I will need to explore other options now.

What have you done to iMovie??????

I’ve been using iMovie for 18 months now and loving it, this latest update has made the program unusable and I am pretty darn irritated! Not only is it crashing but it’s adding a weird flicker of corruption randomly through my footage. I’ve checked the original video - no issue, if I load it into an older version of iMovie no issues - load it onto a system with the latest upgrade and it’s rubbish and even worse it’s publishing with this weird corruption flicker in the output file! What the heck people!!! Please fix ASAP or I’ll be swapping to Premier - very unhappy customer
Do NOT upgrade until these issues are sorted.

Update has caused crashes and corrupt files

When I updated my apple early 2016, I was forced to purchase iMovie. Before, when I had the free version, it worked perfectly. The new version causes corrupted red and white lines throughout movies and the most recent update (June 2016) now crashes every time I try to import a video file and will only allow image files. Considering I had to purchase this product I would expect better. Solution, DaVinci Resolve 12.5!
