insTuner is a chromatic tuner that helps you tune instruments quickly and accurately.
With advanced DSP (Digital Signal Processing) algorithm, it is highly accurate (±1/1000 semitone or ±0.1 cent precision). insTuner is well-designed and easy to use. You can also use it as an electronic pitch pipe to tune by ear, matching the generated tones. Great little tuner, after I figured it out
I almost missed out on this nice little tuner. I installed it on my Mac, clicked on it and got prompted to allow access to the Microphone. I did, and then it just went away and woundn't start - I thought. When I gave up and went to unistall it, the OS said it was still running. That is when I realised that it installs into the menubar and there is no visible app until you click on the tuning fork icon (it looks like a Y if you haven't seen an actual tuning fork, and why would you with electronic tuners being so much better!)
Once I figured out to click on the icon, I found a very nice tuner for tuning my guitar while I'm sitting at my Mac. It has three displays. The first is simple yellow/green and is fine. The second shows more detail, and the third shows the pitch as the note sustains, which I found really interesting.
While writing this review I discovered that it also has an ability to generate tones in eight octives. One minor issues is that the letters in this mode are cut off a bit, but it doesn't detract from the capability.

Been using this for years
Works great! PS if you have electric guitar and no amp, do the eddie van halen trick and put the body or the neck on the table where the laptop is - works a treat!
