Life changing.

I’ve been using this app for about 6 months now, and just with the little nudges and encouragement it gives to eat the right amounts of the right things, and move more, I’ve managed to drop 4 pants sizes! I had never thought in the world of heavily monetised weight loss and fitness that it truly could ever be as simple as “eat less move more” (and it’s not really - it’s not eat less it’s eat the right amount!) but Lifesum has helped me learn that. 6 months in I find myself using the app a bit less, but that is because it has helped to teach me a better lifestyle where I don’t need to micro-track everything I eat to balance my day, but I’m still very reluctant to let my premium membership go because it has had so much of a massive impact on my life. Truly paradigm-shifting!
The only thing I wish it had that it doesn’t is recipes that are a bit more “family” friendly (as in stuff I had a snowball’s hope in hell of getting a picky 4 year old to eat with me!)

Be cautious

This app started my eating disorder because I was only 13 and didn’t know the damage restricting and counting calories could cause. The age restriction should be higher, and there should be educational resources on food disorders, or a disclaimer, or just something for people who don’t realise they could be vulnerable to the damages of calorie counting. Just be wary that in the wrong hands, like a 13 year old girl going through body imagine issues, this sort of thing can promote anxiety around food, eating disorders, and so much more for years to come. I’m now 17 and still struggle with the effects of this, and I think that just putting something in place to add caution for people on this app could be helpful in preventing this sort of thing, and promote it as a tool, and not something to obsess over! - promote that not reaching a calorie goal each day doesn’t mean you have to eat less the next day or something.
I also found how atrocious it is that you could set a goal to only consume 1200 calories a day. That is the amount of calories an average toddler eats. And the fact that I didn’t know that until years later, and that I had been trying to starve myself for years because I thought that thats what you have to do to lose weight - because this app told me so - is terrible.

I haven’t been on this app for 2-3 years, so I’m not sure if anything has changed. I’m hoping that it has, or will.
