I am about to delete this pile of [insert favourite epithet here]. The opening screen is cutesy in the extreme (NSW the Nanny State), the first prompt (the tour) has the wrong orientation for an iPad in landscape mode (doesn’t anyone actually TEST these things?), the map stutters every time an update comes in, and there is ZERO information of the type I was actually hoping to find (details about an expected road closure in the next couple of weeks). On the latter, I suppose what you expect depends on your definition of “live”. I think of it as the kind of information that would be germane to a planned trip at any future time. Not just “I’m about to jump into the car to run down to the store” kind of future but “over the next couple of weeks I need to get from A to B, are there any road closures I need to be aware of?” kind of future. I think of “live” as “the most up-to-date information”. If you know a road is going to be closed today, tomorrow, next week or next year, it should be available. If the information changes then it should be updated - THAT kind of “live”. Pity I can’t give this negative stars. Useless.
Another too-cool hipster app with minimal navigation buttons and no ‘back’ button for when you open a page and realise it’s not what you want - you’re stuck there forever.
You select your favorite camera locations but when you tap ‘cameras’ at the bottom of the page there’s no ‘favorites’ option shown. I’ve no idea where your favorites list is found so you’re stuck with scrolling through endless cameras 40km from where you live searching for cameras within a 5km radius of home.
All the info you need is available but it’s tedious and counter-intuitive, probably faster to drive up the road and take a look for yourself rather than spend a half hour on the app discovering the road conditions at Heathcote when you live in Hunters Hill.
Incorrect too many times.
I use this app everyday however I find that traffic information locations are often incorrect. I have corrected the RMS but I find now that the feedback page doesn’t work. Wonder why.
I can’t believe that RMS can get traffic incidents so wrong, they are the statutory body for the state of NSW, their staff must have a great view of the harbour, because they don’t know much about the rest of NSW.
