LongScreen is a simple app for combining multiple screenshots vertically or side-by-side automatically.

Here’s how it works:

• Take screenshots you want to combine, open the app and give it access to your camera roll.

• Tap and choose multiple screenshots from the gallery, choose your merge option, and you’re done! The LongScreen algorithms will analysis those screenshots and combine them together.

• The processed screenshot can be saved back to your Camera Roll, sent in Messages, copied to clipboard, posted to Facebook or Twitter, and more. You can also easily delete the original images that you no longer needed.

• Enhance your iOS workflows using x-callback-urls

Doesn't work

App doesn't have access to your entire photo album only a select few. Useless app

A promising app in an early stage of development

If you see the ability to join multiple randomly-selected images, in the sequence of your choice, into lengthy or wide single images to be useful, then this app is worth buying while it is on offer for 99c. It may be worth a little more when it is properly developed, but at present it is not intuitive, there is no help facility and not everything works. Nevertheless, the concept is good.

On opening the app you are presented with a screenful of thumbnail images of screenshots in your Camera Roll from which to tap those you wish to join. At the top centre of the screen is a pair of icons symbolising vertical or horizontal joining and the first step is to select your preference. Next, tap images to be joined bearing in mind that the order in which you select them determines their sequence in the resulting image. Tap "Merge" at top right to join the selected images and display the result on the screen. If horizontal joining is chosen, a magic wand icon at the bottom of the screen is enabled, offering the option to have the component images appear with iOS device-like surrounds in space grey or silver so that they look like photographs of the device. An export icon at the bottom left provides numerous options including saving the image to the Camera Roll.

Given the many screenshots I take to record orders, transactions, receipts, important clauses from lengthy agreements etc, I can put this app to good use. The limitation to screenshots isn't really a problem because if I wish to join photographs I can display them in a photo app and take a screenshot. I can use a similar technique to get around what seems to be a bug in the present release of this app that doesn't allow me to scroll back through earlier screenshots than appear when the app is opened.
