MacCleanse is a powerful application geared towards purifying your system and reclaiming hard disk space. Fully compatible with the latest version of Mac OS X! In only seconds, it can perform over fifty tasks which could take hours to perform manually. Safely erase caches, empty logs, clear cookies, forget web histories, locate unused and old files, and more. MacCleanse won't miss a thing and could reclaim hundreds of megabytes, if not gigabytes, of storage.
Going above and beyond the call of duty, MacCleanse provides detailed information on each item it cleanses, and can even wipe files with US Department of Defense level security. After a scan is complete, never worry about deleting something automatically by mistake. MacCleanse provides a detailed list of all items it intends to clear before the operation completes, and allows you to uncheck any to leave untouched. Also run it automatically on a weekly schedule with a preset list of items to erase so you won't even have to think about it.
It is an ideal solution when shopping for gifts, cleansing the system after someone else has used it, when preparing to sell your computer, or just for reclaiming wasted disk space. But, most importantly, ensure your personal information is out of reach.
MacCleanse also contains enhanced features for specific applications like Acquisition, Adium, AIM, aMSN, Azureus, Bit Torrent, Colloquy, FireFox 2 & 3, iCab, iChat, ICQ, Internet Explorer, Mozilla, MPlayer, MSN Messenger, Netscape, OmniWeb, Opera, Preview, QuickTime, Safari, Skype, Transmission, Unison, Xtorrent, and Yahoo Messenger. These enhanced features allow you to pick and choose what exactly to remove from the application - be it only auto-fill values from Safari or the recent download history in Xtorrent.
More fixes for macOS Sierra.
Ratings and Reviews
MacCleanse is a simple way to clear away the cobwebs on your computer, but don't expect a huge leap in performance. I use the app for a good ol' dusting down every one or two weeks and I have never seen a huge boost in performance.
It does however, clean away data that would otherwise be tedious and time-consuming to clear yourself. This is made even easier by the Quick Cleanup Schedule which will launch, scan, delete and close without your invovlement. However it's not completely independent, MacCleanse will not run if your computer is left on standby.
Another annoyance is that for MacCleanse to clean programs properly during the cleanse, it requires you quit them. This is especially frustrating when it takes a long time to complete the cleanse. The program has never once crashed on me, so is fairly reliable.
Overall, it's better than nothing. But do your research and you might save yourself AU$8.49.
This is a MUST HAVE for every Mac user.
The first scan freed up 4.5GB of disk space by purging loads of garbage files from my system. It's brilliant. Everything runs faster and smoother, especially web browsing. The process is very thorough yet highly customizable and easily automated to keep your system fresh and free from junk. It's amazing how much rubbish is in there slowing everything down. Highly recommended.
This Bugs Me Too
Like QuirkyAussie I too have lodged various crash reports (Mac OSX 10.7.3, 2.66 Intel Core I5 with 8G of 1067 DDR3) when attempting to use some of the more advanced options. I have just received, by email, an invitation from Koingo for a free upgrade to 3.1.3 with a link to a download site. I completed the download and install (not without problems), then endeavoured to activate the new version only to be told that they do not have a record of my email (hey, they sent me an invitation to upgrade by email!!) and asking me to purchase from the App Store again. Let the user beware….
Up to six family members will be able to use this app with Family Sharing enabled.
