MoodPrism is a newly developed app that helps you learn about your mood by transforming daily mood reports into a colourful summary of your emotional health.

You will receive feedback on your mood each day, and the more you use the app, the more detailed this information will become – with flourishing scores after 1 week’s use, and depression/anxiety scores after 2 weeks of use.

It also provides health information based on your daily mood, and links to mental health resources.

We believe that using MoodPrism can help you boost your emotional health and well-being.

Everyone who agrees to be part of this research and completes just 7 days of the daily questions will go into a draw for one of four $AU100 gift cards. For every week you complete after that, you will be awarded another entry in this draw, and if you complete the final surveys you will receive double entries to the prize draw. This prize draw is not sponsored by Apple. The prizes will be drawn in January 2017, and winners will be notified via a push notification on their device. At that time they will be invited to contact the researchers to receive their prize. No further prizes will be available beyond January 2017 even if the app continues to be used.

Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

Ratings and Reviews

Designed to benefit the researcher, not the user

The app is primarily designed to gather data for a research project. Being helpful to the user comes a very distant second, like a begrudging recognition that some kind of benefit had to be promised to get participation.

To support the researcher's specific interests, mood reports MUST be submitted EXACTLY when demanded, at a randomly inconvenient time each day.

It would still be very helpful for users if they could complete the mood log at more convenient times. The research platform could easily be programmed to exclude such data if necessary.

But no, you have to follow their rigid schedule or you won't be permitted to make an entry that day. Hence there is no user benefit after all. This is ironic, coming from a developer that is supposed to have an interest in mental health.
