Motion X GPS
I have been using this app extensively for ~4 years and have found it to be exceptional from many standpoints. Almost hard to know where to begin.
Contour Maps. Not only are there detailed contour maps of the entire world as far as I can tell, but they include accurate walking tracks of everywhere I've tried to use them. This includes all over Australia and NZ, the Nakasendo Way in Japan, the Canadian Rockies, Italy, France and Smokeys in USA. It's also useful that they can be downloaded and saved for use on areas without connection.
Voice Coaching. I use it all the time (set to 1/2 km intervals). It's always very encouraging to know where you are and what you've accomplished so far on a long hike and how far you've got to go.
Map Display of current track. This has got me out of trouble many times when I've got off the track. Very valuable.
I often use Track Summary and statistics, total ascent, total descent and graphs to get an overall view of what I've accomplished during the day.
I have used this App for fun and work and have found it to be very versatile. The email share function is extremely useful for providing friends and workmates with current activities and for planning future adventures.
I downloaded this App a while back never really used it until now and wished that I had. It's your motion diary and then couple it with G Earth if using PC with the other software and bam......... History
