Mobile control of the Ness D8X or D16X control Panels. Easily view the status and control your Ness control panel from viewing the status of zones, control outputs and Arm and Disarm status. Control can be done from anywhere in the world as long as you have either Wi-Fi or Mobile Phone coverage.
* Panel requires a IP232 connected to the control panel
* Panel requires firmware version 7.8 or higher for output control
* Arm and Disarm Status (Inc Both areas of the system and Monitor Mode)
* Live status of Zones
* Status and control of outputs
* 24 Hour Panic, Police and Fire control
What's New in Version 1.2.0
- Added ability to rename zones and outputs
- Added graphical siren and strobe indicators
- Enhancement to make zones alarm status sticky until the alarm is acknowledged.
Bare bones Basics
Definintely needs a UI refresh as already stated. I undestand the amount of information that can be accessed from the panels is limited, but display of this data could be better. More polling to ensure updated arm/disarmed/home status while the app is opened or when it is bought to the foreground. Basic app Information about what each of the icons does (sometimes a speaker icon appears to the upper left of the shield, what does it do?). Zone labels are truncated if they are too long so why not limit the number of characters for the zone labels, or at least make use of all the display space. This is the most expensive app i've ever bought, and while it does function, i feel as though it would be better as a $0.99 app given the functions and the fact that a $100+ piece of hardware (RS232 to Ethernet bridge) had to be purchased to even make use of the app so its really closer to $120
Good But Pricey
The app is really just a remote for your system but on the iPhone. I found a PDF online with setup instructions for the D16X panel that I have just installed. Without it, I don't think I would have gotten this to work. There should be a link to this PDF within this app somewhere. Somethings are a little wired, like when you name the zones the dialog box does not display correctly. Also if you hold down the D8X/D16X icon for 2 seconds then you can change the configuration. Something that would be useful to know.
Overall, this app is ok for basic operation of the Ness alarm system. One thing that has really made me angry is that the app does not notify you that your alarm has been triggered. My neighbour had to phone me to let me know that my alarm had gone off. When I opened the app to see what zone had triggered the alarm had a red flashing light that was flashing on the home screen. I received no SMS, no tone, no alert, no nothing. What is the point, Ness, of creating an app that does not do the basic function of informing you when your home alarm has been triggered. Please rectify this issue.
