T&Cs

A. Optus Sport offers a month-to-month, auto-renewing subscription. In-app purchases are charged monthly to your Apple Account and automatically charged within 24-hours prior to the end of the current period. Cancel before the 24-hour period to avoid being charged. Subscriptions can be disabled by going to your App Store Subscriptions.

B. Personal viewing in Australia. Some data charges apply from your service provider. Content and features vary by sport, and are subject to change. Streaming quality dependent on your device and service provider and on the speed of your internet connection, including bandwidth. Optus Sport is delivered using Adaptive Bitrate Streaming Technology at a resolution of up to 1080p. Note that the use of other internet applications on the same internet connection at the same time may cause a degradation in video quality. For more information read the full terms and conditions found at https://sport.optus.com.au/terms . For more information on how to watch in 1080p (Full HD), see https://www.optus.com.au/for-you/support/answer?id=20213.

C. Video Settings. The Optus Sport app allows you to choose higher or lower resolution video. This may be helpful if your bandwidth is limited or if you are experiencing buffering issues. We recommend leaving the setting on Auto. The higher the resolution you select when using a mobile network, the greater your battery usage and the greater your mobile data usage which can result in unexpectedly high bills (depending on your mobile service).

After 4 years they still won’t fix orientation lock, Hate Hate Hate

This is the only app I have come across that completely ignores rotation lock.
I like to watch stuff on my ipad in bed whilst led on my side. This means that my ipad is actually in a portrait position but my head is side ways, so i’ll watch in landscape view because that’s the way my head is facing. I can do this on every other TV/ Video platform Netflix, Kayo, Stan, ABC, SBS, the list goes on and on. But for some reason Optus will constantly switch to Portrait view even when the orientation lock is on. Come on optus i’ve given in app feed back on this for the last 4 years and you have ignored what is without doubt an extremely easy fix.
Please just follow the orientation lock rules. So that if i put orientation lock on I DO NOT WANT YOU TO CHANGE THE DISPLAY WHEN I ROTATE THE DEVICE. It really is that simple. The amount of resentment i have towards you and your brand because of this is insane, and this will only get bigger now that i’m getting charged a monthly fee when previously it was free.
please please please fix it 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Forced advertisements on a paid service

The app is ok. The functionality and navigation is fine. Content could be available for a little longer and potentially you could select your team and all of their games for the year could be available for the season? Just a suggestion. However, recently Optus have seen fit to force advertisements on users without option to fast forward them. My kids are bombarded with gambling and fast food advertisements over and over again. It is extremely frustrating and I despise the practice. If the Burger King think that looking over and over again at the same disgusting food somehow brainwashes people into eating it then they have to be delusional. It looks disgusting and I can only imagine tastes worse. I may have gone before I was forced to watch it stacked in slow motion over and over again but I will never darken their doors based purely on their adverts. Tab are an insidious gambling cartel. Over and over again we are forced to watch mind numbing ‘gaming’ ads with no warnings about the destructive force gambling has on people who get caught in their marketing nets. I pay to watch the football. I love the football. I will pay to watch it on any service that it happens to be on. I hate Optus Sports because not only do they take my money the force feed my children advertisements about gambling and fast food. When the Premier League leave Optus I will celebrate.

How football on demand should be

If your interested in the English Premier League, Champion League, Europa League, international football, and women’s football and live in Australia then this app is all you need.

If you can’t catch the live coverage then there are mini matches and match highlights of games. If your after an even more bite sized portion of the action then there are goal highlights and even post match interviews. Add this to the other football related shorts like what players to pick in your dream team and Optus really has you covered.

My only criticism is the retention period of games. If you don’t catch them before the next round then you’ve pretty much had it. This is also partly due to the browsing functionality and the volume of games so only a very minor criticism at worst.
