why remove FTP server?


I purchased this so I could use the reliable FTP server, now you have removed it. Why apple, why? If you take the FTP off mac os, why would your remove it off the server? it is up to the consumer to decide whether we need the server or not. it can be easily switched off the server. A normal mac user wouldn’t know how to setup FTP on mac. But if someone purchased this application it’s because they know what they are doing. Bring back the #FTPserver. I will change my review when you start listening to the consumer.

File sharing has become a nightmare


I have a 2011 Mac Mini server which i use for my work as a file server. In our office we have 3 Windows 7 PCs and 2 Macs. File sharing for the previous version of the program was working perfectly. Since we updated to the latest version of mac OS Server (we also upgraded the operating system to High Sierra) file sharring has become a nightmare. In many cases files and subfolders created by the PCs are locked and connot be accessed by the PC and vice-versa.

Apple please fix.

Most people that require a server will want it simply for better file sharing than what is built into every mac and this application delivers.
The ability to create an admin folder for accounting, payroll and sensitive information is vital in any business today. This requires you to create a staff Group (lets call this Minions) that you add the admin user too and then the other staff users. Then make sure you delete Staff (Minions) from the sensitive admin folder. Do not get confused with the built in group called Staff as I could no get this to work and I replaced this with Minions. One other issue is Apples move to SMB is not complete yet and I turned this OFF as it caused permission issues and stops the client macs from shutting down because it thinks the file from the server is still open. Other features like creating centralised contacts is also easy and works well.
