Don’t even think about this “upgrade”

Just spent two days working very late to roll back our office to el capitan server and repair all the permissions errors that this version (high sierra server 5.6) created. File sharing is not functional. Time machine is not functional. Permissions are TOTAL disaster - they don’t propogate, files that one user saved can’t be opened by anyone else despite everyone being in the same workgroup, sometimes files become locked or read only, files disappear completely, even while users have them open. Server software has no tools to set up file sharing, nothing to propogate Permissions or ACLs. I could go on… in summary: Atrocious software. AVOID like the plague.

You kIlled Server!

I have NEVER written a review of a mac program. This is the first time given the largely ignored aspect of this utter infringement of rights to software as it was purchased. Previously this software helped me run a fairly amateur IT service for my partner and to allow me to VPN back home when I needed a file on my server. Suddenly after updating ALL has disappeared. I had just upgraded my server hardware only to find any usefulness has disappeared. APPLE…you have utterly changed the software package I purchased. Not only is this a violation of my consumer rights, but it is poor service. Please please please rectify this shortcoming! And NOW!

No longer for me

Previous versions were great, but with the removal of things like the web server this has become unnecessarily for me to use.
I understand why they would remove components that other people create, as you can be more up to date by using them from source.
I am sure that what is now does will work well for those who use those features.
