What's New

Version 4.2.2

The Diagram Tool has relearned an old trick: arrowheads. You can add arrowheads to strokes created with the Diagram Tool by holding still for a moment at the end of any stroke. Then just tap to save one or both of the arrowheads that appear.

This release also contains some sync bug fixes and performance optimizations.

Ingeniously designed, Paper presents a powerfully modern tool for writing, drawing, note-taking and beyond. Sketch out ideas and whip up diagrams with a rich selection of responsive brushes. Using simple gestures, quickly annotate photos or transform text into beautifully formatted lists. It’s an excellent medium for capturing and organising the thoughts and images that you need every day.

Decent app but...

This is certainly one of the better apps that I’ve come across and the learn to sketch sounds very exciting. The only problem I’ve had is with some of the support pages, which are poor, in my opinion. They rely on drawing which aren’t overly intuitive and don’t particularly help. As an example, the fill roller (in pro) doesn’t seem to fill objects, only create them. I’m sure it does, but I can’t figure out how. The auto shape generator only randomly recognises that I am trying to draw a triangle. While it certainly wasn’t a perfect triangle, it was close enough to know that’s what I attempted 9seven attempts before it realised I was drawing a triangle0. Again, it is a good app and I am mainly focusing on the few negatives.

I have used this app for roughly 3 - 4 years now. It used to be such an amazing app, where artists could create amazing pieces and share them on a platform where they could receive feedback from other artists. Back then I would have considered it a five star app. I purchased the pencil, and that made my experience so much better, allowing me to blur and change pressure was fabulous.

But now what do I feel?

I feel cheated and robbed. The experience I once had with this app has been stripped away. There is no longer the option of sharing my art with my fellow artists, whom I had developed friendships with. Now I have to pay to use features that I could once use for free. I find that ridiculous.
A suggestion I would make, is that rather than making in app purchases for your so-called “PAPER PRO” make the app a paid app. I would also suggest bringing back the sharing forum, as it was something that really set this app apart from others that are similar.

I used to recommend this app to everyone I knew that wanted a digital way to create art. Now I suggest other apps that I’ve used, as I feel that they are now better quality than PAPER, which was once my favourite app.
