Wander with a Wombat

El Muscle

I was eagerly anticipating this game mainly because the creative director happens to be my brother-in-law and the artistic graphics. I wasn't disappointed. This is a terrific and beautiful game, although some may call it an interactive storybook.

The sound of the Bush welcomes you when you first start the game, followed by the music, which was wonderful to my ears, relaxing and very Australian. The story focuses on the Wombat traveling out of its tree, searching for food. The Australian Bush is beautifully presented in watercolour paint, and as the Wombat travels along, the landscape reveals itself in classic fog-of-war style which I'm familiar with from old classic strategy games.

You can either follow along with the story, or take your time to explore and collect food and animals/insects. I did have some trouble at first doing this due to a bug in the game which was recently fixed. There were also times when the Wombat would disappear or would get stuck when dealing with cockatoos.

I'm sure these issues will be fixed in time. I like to say that I enjoyed my little adventure with this adorable Wombat and I would recommend this game to everyone!

Gorgeous experience

Been waiting for this for ages... and it is so good. A little disappointed at how short the “game” is but have replayed a couple of times to collect more insects and found the atmosphere drawing me in again. They recommend headphones, and for good reason... the sound is brilliant and so immersive. Soothing, gentle and evocative, this is more of an experience than a game, and none the less for it.

Please make more!

Love love love the graphics and the music. Very serene. You instantly fall in love with the little wombat and I found myself feeling empathy for it through its journey. It’s a very short story for the price paid but I hope that the developers add more stories for other Australian animals. Would love to see an echidna or Koala story next.
